Cardiology

If you have any questions or would like to refer a case please email our Berkeley House practice at referrals@severnvets.co.uk or call us on 01905 756156.

Our cardiology service is led by Mark Taylor (BVetMed CertAVP PGCertVPS MRCVS).

During the initial evaluation Mark performs a detailed echocardiogram, which includes: 2D and M-mode, Pulsed Wave Doppler and Colour Flow Doppler, assessment of systolic and diastolic function of the myocardium, valvular morphology and checking for the presence of congenital heart disease.

Electrocardiography can be performed in-house for arrhythmia assessment, and for more complicated rhythm disturbances Holter monitoring can be arranged.

We commonly work up cases presenting with:

  • Heart murmurs – due to congenital and acquired heart disease.
  • Collapse.
  • Arrhythmia.
  • Exercise intolerance.
  • Breathing difficulties.
